LeapFrog Enterprises was founded in 1995 by Michael Wood, who graduated from Stanford University and University of Berkley. Wood was inspired when he could find no innovative products on the market to help his struggling young son learn how to read. LeapFrog's desire was to create educational products that kids love, parents trust, and teachers value.
LeapFrog believes that parents play a crucial part in the development of their children's learning experience and because of that belief they treat parents as primary partners in their ability to create those products. Over the years LeapFrog has become a successful company and a common household name with their wide variety of learning programs and toys focusing on the education of infants through grade school children.
In an annual survey conducted by ConsumerQuest involving more than 1,000 parents of children ranging from birth to eleven years of age, 66% of those parents agreed that using educational video games can be positive influence and can give their children an educational advantage. Nancy MacIntyre, LeapFrog’s Executive Vice President of Product, Innovation and Marketing states that “Providing educational products that teach and are also just plain fun, LeapFrog is helping today’s kids to develop a love of learning. And that’s something that will last a lifetime.”
